I was born and raised in central Illinois and knew at a very early age that I wanted to do something creative with my life. So I went to college, received my BFA in Graphic Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Two weeks after I graduated I was on my way to Washington, DC to find a career, and within two weeks I was heading to my new job at Center for American Progress, just a couple blocks from the White House and 13 hours away from home. After two and a half years of DC's fast pace and too many long road trips back home, I was ready to move back to the midwest.
Now I'm living in Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by creativity, on a tiny dead end street next to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Kansas City Art Institute. I couldn't be happier to call this home. In addition to graphic design, I'm interested in cooking, sewing, staying fit, going to baseball games, visiting museums, drinking a lot of coffee, road trips, not sitting still, organizing things, and of course spending time with my friends, family, and pets.
From Robin Pam, Director of Operations at MD Ranger, Inc
“Lauren is a talented graphic designer who I would not hesitate to hire again for any project. I have worked with Lauren both as a colleague at the Center for American Progress and as a freelancer-- she has done all the graphic design work for our start up in the past year. She consistently produces top-quality work, and almost always gets it right on the first try. More importantly, she listens and responds extremely well to feedback, and works with us on the whole design process, iterating until we get something we love. Anyone would be lucky to work with such a versatile, creative, and professional designer.”

From Emily Berman, Senior Manager of Business Alliance at Center for American Progress
“Lauren tackled each part of an extremely complex design project with poise and determination. Not only did her impressive skills replace thousands of dollars in expenses for out-of-house invitation, logo and email design in years past, but she also took on responsibilities around the bidding process with printers and organized colleagues on other teams which relieved additional work for our Senior Vice President and for me and kept us ahead of schedule on the job.
Lauren is talented, organized, quick to respond, resourceful and very creative. I hope for the opportunity to work closely with her in the future”

From Roberta Staske, Owner of Staske Photography
“Lauren worked at our Budding Portrait Studio for 2 years. We were going through a Learning Curve from Film to Digital and Graphics. We were able to give what little knowledge that we had in Photoshop for design and creation to her in about 3 days...and the rest she discovered on her own. Self Motivated, Attention to Detail, Reliable and Trustworthy. I would welcome her back to our organization or recommend her to others without hesitation. I am very proud of her accomplishments.”
